DLBP secures approval for display of banners affixed to listed railings promoting The Treasure House Fair 2024

DLBP is very pleased to have secured approval for the display of 20 banners affixed to listed railings surrounding the Royal Hospital Chelsea promoting this year’s edition of The Treasure House Fair, which will be held from 27 June to 2 July.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea hosts a number of high-quality events each year throughout the spring and summer.  These include Salon Privé London, the Longines Global Champions Tour, and The Treasure House Fair, all of which we have secured planning permission for, and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which predated the planning system.

These events are drawn to the Royal Hospital by its iconic, historic setting – the site comprising a range of grade I, II, and II* listed buildings and structures and being at the centre of the Royal Hospital Conservation Area – and its enviable central London location.

DLBP worked closely with the event organisers and the Royal Hospital Chelsea to prepare an application for advertisement consent proposing banners that will attract and direct thousands of visitors to the Fair, whilst also being sympathetic in design to the historical significance of the host site, particularly the listed railings to which they will be affixed, and the surrounding area.  This required us to clearly justify how the proposal would not be harmful with respect to visual amenity and public safety, as well as to identify the benefits of the proposal to the Royal Hospital and wider area, such that it should be approved.

DLBP then acted on behalf of the event organisers as agent for that application, liaising with the Council and robustly addressing all concerns raised to ensure that a positive outcome was received well in advance of the event taking place.
