DLBP attends RTPI planning for public inquiries event

DLBP recently attended an interesting event relating to planning for public inquires, organised by the RTPI East of England.

Jack Allenby, Principal Planner, attended on behalf of DLBP and learnt so much during the morning session from the various speakers who shared their experiences of how to best plan for an appeal inquiry, and how to prepare and give clear, strong evidence, particularly under cross-examination.  This included insightful presentations from Tom Newcombe of Birketts, Robert Barber of Pegasus Group, and Celina Colquhoun, Daniel Kozelko, Jonathan Darby and Jake Thorgold of 39 Essex Chambers.

The afternoon session then comprised a mock inquiry, where the common mistakes and pitfalls discussed earlier in the day were put on show.  This was also in engaging session which really clarified the key dos and don’ts of planning inquiries.

Thank you to all those that presented, the RTPI East of England for organising, and Birketts for hosting.
